Spring Egg Hunt

Egg Hunt:  10:30am
The egg hunt is held annually in March or April at Sierra 2. This free event includes activities such as a pajama parade, bag decorating and pictures with the Bunny. The egg hunt is divided into two age groups (0-3 and 4-12) so that all children have the opportunity to search for eggs. Photos with the Easter Bunny are 5x7 and cost $5 (cash only please).

  

Home & Garden Tour
April 27, 2013
The Home & Garden Tour held annually in April is one of SCNA’s largest fundraising activities. Each year several homes in the Curtis Park neighborhood open their doors to the public. The featured houses honor the pre-war built neighborhood, which include bungalow, Spanish revival, Tudor and  Storybook style homes. In honor of the 90th Anniversary of the Sierra 2 Center's building, formally Sierra School, the 2013 event will include an historic plaque unveiling, local distinguished guests and refreshments. Neighborhood Yard Sale

Held annually in May, the Neighborhood Yard Sale was established in 2007. SCNA advertises the event in the Sacramento Bee, Viewpoint, Craig's List and other community news outlets including e-mail announcements.

Music in the Park

Held the last Sunday of June, July and August, Music in the Park is a free summer concert series at the north end of Curtis Park. This annual event is the perfect time to relax with your family, friends and neighbors. With a blanket and picnic basket you can enjoy the music in a wonderful outdoor venue. Curtis Fest
August 25, 2013
Curtis Fest was established in 2007 to give local artists a venue to exhibit and sell their work. This free event held in September also has an art area for kids where they can make marble paintings, get their face decorated, make beaded jewelry and other fun activities. Curtis Fest is held at William Curtis Park. 

 

Curtis Park Wine Tasting & Silent Auction
October 5, 2013
The 23nd Annual Curtis Park Wine Tasting, Silent Auction & Beer Garden, will take place Saturday, October 5, 2013, 4pm-7pm, at Sierra 2 Center.  As one of SCNA’s largest fundraisers, the event brings local wineries, breweries and restaurants to Sierra 2 Center for tastings. Attendees enjoy delicious food and beverages along with the exciting silent auction and raffle drawings. Items available for bid include original art, spa packages, beach rentals, dance lessons and much more. $35 for SCNA Members, $45 for Non-members.

Jewelry & Holiday Ornament Fair

This annual Sierra 2 Senior Center event is held every December, from 11am-4pm, with all proceeds supporting the Senior Center. The Senior Center accepts donations of jewelry for this sale year round. To donate jewelry and obtain information, please call the Senior Center at (916) 455-6339.

Dinner and A Movie
Dates: Various throughout the year
Welcome to the most entertaining movie experience around! Dinner and A Movie combines classic movies of the past with a dinner experience that takes its inspiration from the movie.  Culinary arts meet Performing arts! Dinner guests will enjoy the movie-inspired menu and décor in the Garden Room and enchanting courtyard. Following dinner,with the mood set, guests will wander next door to the historic 24th Street Theatre to take in the classic movie. Popcorn is included for all attendees and additional beverages (beer, wine, nonalcoholic) will be available for purchase. Examples include “Blue Hawaii” with Hawaiian inspired dinner; “Julie and Julia” with French cuisine catered by Le Cordon Bleu; “Casablanca” featuring unique Moroccan fare. Admission: $25 Dinner and the movie or $10 Movie only (includes popcorn and a beverage). Time: 6pm-9pm. Call the office for scheduled movies and dates.

First Fridays
Held on the First Friday of the month, SCNA welcomes neighbors and friends for dinner. The event is held in Curtis Hall and the adjoining outdoor courtyard. A nominal fee is charged for a delicious and healthy meal that includes an entree, salad and dessert. In addition, beer, wine and other drinks are available to purchase. Please call the office for a schedule of event months.
 

 

Best Friend Fridays
Bring your Best Friend and kick start your weekend at the Sierra 2 Center! Held on Fridays, from 5:30-7pm, in the Garden Room and Courtyard. This fun event features Hors d'oeuvres, Wine & Beer, Games, Raffle Drawings and Door Prizes in a no-pressure, no-risk networking environment. Each event is hosted by a different non-profit group with all proceeds from the raffle donated.  Call the office for a schedule of event dates.
