Artist Interview with Karen Sanders and Hannah Howerton of Lionels Place

Why do you craft/make? How did you learn?

We are a mom/daughter, author/illustrator duo who have created a brand around our quirky children’s book and its message of acceptance. We started sewing our characters in order to bring our book to life!

What is your favorite product or piece you’ve made lately?

We have added several new pillows to our line that are tributes to weirdos who made the world wonderful.

What sorts of things are inspiring you right now? Where do you look for inspiration?

Inspiration is all around us! Our favorite place to get inspired is a hike in the Sierra foothills.

Are you bringing/selling anything special at the craft fair?

We will be signing our book and showcasing our new product line which includes pillows, pennants, magnet sets, and more.

Favorite holiday cookie?

Neither one of us can resist a Russian tea cookie.

Favorite holiday song?

Hannah: Anything from the Love Actually soundtrack
Karen: It Came Upon a Midnight Clear

All I want for Christmas is…?

Plenty of time with family and friends.
