Music in the Park has plenty more
music and fun in store for summer
Special to the Viewpoint
By Bruce Gerth
Richard March and his band take the stage for the next Music in the Park.
Just off the release of his new critically acclaimed CD, "Levee Road,"
Richard March and his band will perform on Sunday, July 29, with Mister
Cooper providing music for the kids. The kids performance starts at 6:15
p.m. and music on the main stage goes from 6:30-9 p.m.
The Hucklebucks perform on Sunday, Aug. 26, as they return to Curtis
Park with their trademark blend of jump blues and swing music. Mister
Cooper will once again entertain on the Children's Stage.
Every great show always features an encore, so new this year is a fourth
event on Saturday, Sept. 29. The Picnic in the Park festival will feature
live music, performances by the Sacramento Youth Ballet and Ka Waikahe
Lani Malie Dancers, roving children's entertainment and an art show featuring
area artisans.
Over 25 artists have been confirmed to date; the featured art will include
painting, photography, sculpture, jewelry, mixed mediums, mosaics, fused
glass and more. Please see the call for artists in the box below if you
are interested in participating. At dusk, the picnic will end with an
outdoor family movie.
Music In The Park is a free music series presented by the SCNA and sponsored
by ReMax Gold Realtors Melissa, Michael and Meg Heede, with additional
funding from Target and support from area Council Member Lauren Hammond.
