assistance to those 62 or older, blind, or disabled, who have a total
household income of $42,770 or less. Session A will be held on Mondays
from 10 a.m. until noon from July 16 to Aug. 6 and Session B will be held
at the same time on Mondays from Sept. 17 to Oct 1. The assistance is
free at the Senior Center on a first come basis. For more information,
please call 455-6339.
Caring Neighbors update
Over 50 Curtis Park neighbors have signed up to volunteer their assistance
to local seniors and have attended initial orientation meetings at the
Senior Center. Currently, a data base is being organized and it is expected
that the program can begin responding to seniors requesting assistance
by mid-July.
For those who missed the June orientation meetings, two will be held in
July. Volunteers need to attend these sessions not only for the information
and discussion, but to also have their photo ID and license checked.
The next meetings will be held from 7-8 p.m. on July 10 in Room 11 at
Sierra 2 and from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm on July 12 in the Senior Center.
This will be an ongoing program offered by the Senior Center. Those interested
in volunteering or requesting assistance should call Janice at 455-6339.
Tour of the Da Vinci exhibit
The Senior Center is joining with the Eskaton Monroe Lodge for a group
tour to visit the Da Vinci exhibit at the Aerospace Museum of Sacramento.
The tour will be on July 24 with transportation provided by Eskaton. The
total cost will be $21. Registration and payment must be received by July
10 with no refunds provided. For more information or to register for the
tour, please call 455-6339.
